We had been in conventional woven and knit garments for over a decade, with stable supply chains and solid client relationships. Pivoting to outdoor apparel meant reworking almost every link — from fabric sourcing and pattern design to sample development and bulk production. But the market waits for no one. The growth figures for outdoor categories on cross-border e-commerce platforms are clear, and keywords like "waterproof," "breathable," and "lightweight" are appearing more frequently in inquiries from European and American buyers. The direction is obvious-to fully transition from traditional garment trading to the functional outdoor apparel sector.
So we made our move.
Since the start of this year, our design team has barely taken a break. Our sample room is now filled with newly developed garments — from the initial windbreaker jackets to our current lineup of 3-in-1 shell jackets, lightweight pants, fleece mid-layers, and softshell outerwear. We have built a complete outdoor product matrix.
The first batch of new samples focuses on the Urban Outdoor direction — meeting the daily needs of light trekking, camping, and city commuting, while maintaining good aesthetics and wearability. On the fabric front, we have secured partnerships with established functional textile suppliers for laminated waterproof-breathable fabrics, moisture-wicking quick-dry knits, and abrasion-resistant nylon oxfords. We have also gone through multiple rounds of pattern adjustments, with dozens of testers of different body types providing feedback across three or four revisions before finalization.
To be honest, just one shell jacket took us nearly two months — from fabric selection, seam taping, pattern adjustment, to waterproof rating testing. But now, looking at the finished product with neat seam seals, smooth zippers, and a crisp hood, we feel confident.
Production Line Upgrades – Machines Are Running, and We Are Pushing Forward
Developing new styles is only the first step; stable delivery capability is what truly matters.
Currently, our factories have completed production line conversions — some conventional garment lines have been retrofitted into dedicated outdoor apparel lines, with new equipment including heat-sealing taping machines and laser cutting tables specifically for waterproof shell jackets and softshells. At the same time, we have retained some conventional lines for basic workwear to ensure a balanced production capacity.
The current situation is clear: several lines are running continuously, and our order schedule is already booked through November. Every step — from fabric incoming inspection, cutting, sewing, taping, quality control, to packaging and shipping — is assigned dedicated personnel. Our quality control standards are significantly stricter than those for conventional garments. After all, if an outdoor garment fails, the customer faces real outdoor conditions — there is no room for compromise.
We have invested twice the manpower in quality control compared to before. Every bulk shipment undergoes random sampling for water repellency tests, rubbing colorfastness tests, and seam strength tests. The costs have gone up, but we sleep better at night.
A phrase we often say within our team is: "Make every garment worthy of the person wearing it." It sounds simple, but in the outdoor context, it is our bottom line.
Transformation is not about overnight disruption. It is about taking one solid step in a promising direction while continuing to make every garment with care. Our sample room is filled with new styles, our production lines are running at full capacity, orders are piling in, machines are humming, and we are moving forward.
